In this session with Sarah Willson and Nadia Lachman from Panache Ventures, they will demystify how to evaluate startups, including specific things to look for in pre-seed stage startups when assessing their venture scalability.

Sarah is an Associate at Panache Ventures, a pre-seed and seed stage VC firm supporting inspiring Canadian founders at the earliest stages of building transformational companies. Sarah is also an active member of the Tech4SickKids advisory council, Velocity investment committee, and Schulich ExEd Pitch Deck Advisory Group. Sarah also teaches a course at Schulich School of Business called Financing Growing Ventures. Her experience building her own consumer marketplace business allows her to deeply understand the challenges founders face in the early days of building their companies and she hosts regular office hours to support founders as they navigate these challenges as well as other key business decisions.

Nadia is an Analyst with Panache Ventures' Investment Team, helping contribute to the growth of early-stage ventures led by Canadian founders across diverse industries. Based in Calgary, she actively supports the startup ecosystem in the Prairies. Nadia's academic foundation in health sciences and biomedical technology is complemented by an MBA, and professional journey spanning clinical trials, pharmaceuticals, and various startups.

In addition to her role at Panache Ventures, Nadia serves as a Chapter Lead for Canadian Women in VC (CWVC) and leads the Education committee at the Venture Capital Association of Alberta (VCAA). Beyond the world of venture capital, she channels her passion into training in both boxing and hip-hop dance styles.
