Meet the Founders of Movement51!

Meet Movement51’s founders, Danielle Gifford, Judy Fairburn, and Shelley Kuipers as they discuss why Movement51 was created and its purpose to build financial acumen and literacy for women and gender-diverse individuals.

The transcript of the video is below, in case you prefer to read about us.

Judy

We started to very quickly understand that it’s important to activate, particularly women-led capital, and founders. And our aspiration was always broader. It’s for those that aspire as well. We recognize that it’s important to learn together and doing that in a community, building that capacity, Movement51 kind of naturally just came to be.

Danielle

Movement51 is all about building financial capacity and supporting women to achieve their best when it comes to financial literacy and acumen. We have two different labs, one is the investor lab which focuses on aspiring investors and investors that are already investing. We also have our founders lab, which helps female entrepreneurs that are looking to raise their first seed round. So, what do they do when it comes to negotiating with venture capitalists? How do they prepare their data rooms? How do they negotiate with their boards and what does it look like very tactically on the ground?

Shelley

We want to be able to activate women’s capital and men’s capital, gender-diverse capital, but we also know that early-stage investing and venture investing is still so new to many. It’s not accessible. That’s something that we’re trying to change. So Movement51 is really trying to build that capacity and community. So, building your confidence, your curiosity, and your acumen on all things financial.
