Calgary Community Coffee

In December, we got into the holiday spirit and toasted to a fantastic year at not one but TWO community coffee events in different cities. We brought together members of our alumni, stakeholders, and community partners to network and lift one another up.

On December 6, our Toronto team collaborated with MaRS to host coffee at Aroma Espresso Bar, and on December 11, we were at Platform Calgary.

In Calgary, Dr. Gina Grandy, the new Dean of the Haskayne School of Business, shared a keynote in which she shared three key lessons for leadership:

  1. Know what gives you purpose and guides your leadership

  2. There is kindness in clarity and candour

  3. Networking and sponsorship matter

All inspiring messages we are taking with us as we head into the new year.

We also raised a glass (of coffee!) to our Executive Director, Danielle Gifford, who is leaving her post as the year wraps. Cheers to celebrating Danielle and her bright leadership and the leaps M51 has taken under her thoughtful guidance.

But fret not, she won't be fully leaving our ecosystem and will continue with M51 as a member of our faculty.

A sincere thanks to everyone who joined us! It was wonderful to connect with all of you in person and mingle with our community.

Check out the highlights of the Calgary coffee morning, and stay tuned for more in-person community events coming in 2024.

Be sure to sign up for our newsletter to stay in the loop for future invites.

From our team to you—wishing you a merry and bright holiday season!
